Coco Key Orlando will open on time, waterpark will be delayed

Coco Key Orlando will welcome it’s first hotel guests on April 15th, however, those hoping to take a dip in the water park will have to wait until later this month. Yesterday we reported that Coco Key was opening April 15th after many delays. Today we get word that while the hotel is ready to open, the waterpark is not.

In a letter from resort representatives we were told that everything else is ready to go.

“I wanted you to let you know that the CoCo Key Hotel and Water Resort-Orlando will welcome its first guests as scheduled on Thurs., Apr. 15, however the the leadership team for the new International Drive resort is electing to push back the opening of its water park to later in the month due to construction delays, and is holding off on accepting additional bookings for the month until the water park is ready.

CoCo Key is comp-ing the accommodations for those guests that have booked an April visit at the Orlando resort and are moving forward with their original vacation plans. The resort is also giving guests with April arrival dates the option of re-booking for a later visit at no cost based on the original length of stay.

The good news is that every other aspect of the hotel is ready to go – the team’s in place, rooms are ready, dining areas are up and operational, the quiet pool beckons, and the arcade is good to go – so as soon as we put the finishing touches on the water park, we’ll be ready to welcome resort guests and water park guests.”

While this is an unfortunate setback, it is not surprising. If you check our previous article you can see several areas under construction. Most of the rest of the park is ready and set to go, but it seems as if construction on the two remaining large slides may still not be 100% complete. Not to take anything away from the resort, the hotel, restaurants and all the additional amenities (which are ready) did look amazing and still well worth a visit.
