Busch Gardens Tampa delays opening of Falcon’s Fury, continues work on Pantopia

It would appear that Falcon’s Fury has a case of the bird flu, and won’t be able to make it’s debut on May 1st, as originally slated. In an official statement by the park, they are delaying the grand opening due to ongoing construction. A walk around the park shows that not only is testing still happening on the centerpiece drop tower, but there’s also lots of other construction still happening in Pantopia, the park’s new land that is springing to life in the former Timbuktu area of the park.

Construction crews stay busy during all hours of operation at Busch Gardens Tampa working on the now postponed Falcon’s Fury. The 335 foot tall drop tower was originally scheduled to open on May 1st, but the park announced Friday that they would be postponing the opening until an undetermined time due to ongoing construction.

In 2011 Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Virginia faced similar set backs when that tower was originally supposed to open in May. Due to  manufacturer problems, and issues with the tower, the ride did not open until mid August. While it’s unlikely that the opening of Falcon’s Fury will be delayed more than a few weeks, it is definitely on the minds of those who have watched the attraction rise from the ground.

It’s unknown exactly what the cause of the delay is, or if the delay is even related to Falcon’s Fury. A quick look around the rest of Pantopia shows that several areas are still under construction, with many areas still needing much more than paint.

While news of a delay is a bit dismaying, the good news is that crews have time to finish the area, and get all the little details right. Every day more and more new details are added to the area, and more rides are being reinstalled and tested.

Falcon’s Fury and Pantopia will take guests away to a land that has emerged from the desert, where travelers settle down from their many adventures. The land is home to many wonders, including the amazing Falcon’s Fury and Painted Camel. The new ride and land should be open very soon.
