Universal Orlando announces Wet n Wild Orlando to close

Just last month, Universal Orlando announced that they will be bringing an all new waterpark to life when Volcano Bay erupts in 2017. That left many wondering just what will happen to Universal’s other waterpark,  Wet n Wild Orlando.  The waterpark redefined,  and shaped how we  know waterparks today. Today, however, Universal announced the fate of the iconic waterpark.

The waterpark will be closing, Universal announced Wednesday. The final date of operation will be December 31st, 2016.
The park originally opened in 1977, and fast became the industry standard for waterparks. The park has said that they will continue the great tradition of fa.y waterpark fun when Volcano Bay opens.
The announcement came from the official Universal Orlando blog. Wet n Wild has been an innovator in the waterpark industry, and creates many of the things that waterparks worldwide use today.

No details were given to what will happen to the Wet n Wild site, but with Universal Orlando’s huge expansion plans, we wouldn’t be surprised if that area stays empty long.
Wet n Wild Orlando will remain open all this summer, as well as next year.
Volcano Bay will open onsite at Universal Orlando, right next to Cabana Bay Beach Resort in 2017. It promises to be a huge innovator, and bring in one of a kind attractions that will amaze families and thrill seekers.
