Universal Orlando gets Fast & Furious with new graffiti art and more!

Universal Orlando is getting guests prepared for a new attraction, with an interesting take on their construction walls. The park is in the midst of undergoing a major overhaul on two of their big attractions, both to be ready for a huge 2017 opening date. The entire resort is still undergoing major operation in just about every aspect, with new projects underway in Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, CityWalk, and an all new hotel being built. It’s safe to say that Universal Orlando is on the way to huge new heights as they continue construction.

Fast & Furious Supercharged is not hitting Universal until 2017, but the new attraction is already getting some attention with Graffiti artists doing work on the outside construction walls, near the former Disaster attraction.

According to team members, the artists are part of a competition which will give the winners the chance to have their art featured on the ride when it opens in 2017. The attraction will be similar to the attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, which opened as part of the Studio Tour this past summer.

Elsewhere, work continues on the former Lucy a Tribute. The store is being turned into an all new Hello Kitty interactive store. The new store will give fans the chance to get their pictures taken with Hello Kitty and friends, and even build your own version of her signature bow.

Twister is also being transformed into an all new experience set to be open in 2017. Since the rides closure in early November, the outside of the attraction has been stripped down. The new attraction will be Jimmy Fallon Race Through New York, and will take guests for a 3D adventure through New York City .

Universal is gearing up for the holidays with their huge Christmas tree, which serves as the centerpiece of Macy’s Day Parade. Santa Claus lights up the tree as he passes by on his sleigh.
The Macy’s Parade is one piece of the huge Holiday Celebration at Universal Orlando. The Macy’s Parade happens daily, and includes balloons straight from New York and the world famous parade. This year there the all new Tom Turkey Balloonicle, a towering balloon and self-powered hybrid vehicle and Holiday Lights Balloon, a string of six dazzling Holiday light balloons that dance through the air with ease.
Over at Islands of Adventure, the fun gets mean and green as The Grinch returns. The mean one will be stealing the holidays in the huge stage show based on Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Plus on select nights, Mannheim Steamroller performs their signature Christmas songs.
Then, on New Year’s Eve, party into the next year with Eve at Universal CityWalk. Nightclubs, food, and drinks light up the new year.

While construction has been underway on the new Volcano Bay waterpark, visible progress is being made as steel for the volcano is going vertical, and the wave pool is starting to become visible. These shots were taken from inside a guest room at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, which is the only way to see directly into the park. Volcano Bay will add to Universal Orlando’s huge 2017 line up when it opens.
