SeaWorld Orlando begins putting “pieces” together on new coaster

Mako is the biggest thing to come to SeaWorld Orlando…well, ever! The all new coaster will measure a huge 200 feet tall and will take guests on the fastest ride in Orlando. The park has been doing some major teasing as construction on the massive new coaster continues. On Wednesday, SeaWorld Orlando unveiled an awesome new piece of concept art, all while topping off the huge coaster.

SeaWorld’s Instagram account has been teasing nine photos that, when completed, makes an awesome new piece of concept art for the coaster. The art shows off what will likely be the advertising art, which features the fearsome Mako shark.

Meanwhile, in the park, SeaWorld Orlando put the highest piece of Mako in place. It is a huge milestone that the construction crew always makes by placing an flag at the highest point of the coaster.

From there, construction will move pretty rapidly, as the rest of the 4,760 feet of track. The coaster will eventually travel at 74 mph, making it the fastest coaster in Florida. The coaster will also be the centerpiece of the huge new Shark Realm, which will immerse guests in the world of sharks, and help to give a better understanding about one of the ocean’s top predators. Guests will be able to see sharks on display, get up close with them, and learn in a way that they never have before. The ride will be open to guests over 54 inches, and should be open around Memorial Day weekend. It will be the first new coaster at SeaWorld Orlando since the opening of Manta in 2009.

In fact, crews wasted no time at all getting the move on with several new pieces, which makes the first drop of the coaster complete! A reader sent in some great shots from International Drive, that shows off the new track, and how Mako is going to look on the I-Drive Skyline.
