Jimmy Buffett Performs for his Biggest Fans at the Grand Opening of Margaritaville Hollywood!

Margaritaville is the latest big addition to the ever-changing CityWalk shopping district at Universal Studios Hollywood. CityWalk has been going through a major shift the past year which continues this year with a strong line-up of new and unique food/dining and entertainment offerings. On Thursday Jimmy Buffett and Universal kicked off the official opening of the dining location in a big way. With a live performance from the man himself!

Margaritaville has been a long time coming for Hollywood. Already a popular spot at CityWalk in Orlando (and along the east coast), this opening also ushered the west-coast debut of the restaurant. The grand opening featured a private performance from Jimmy Buffett (at 5 oclock of course), for his closest friends, contest winners of a social media contest and press, but the whole performance was also being broadcast live at 5 Towers so if you couldn’t get into the venue you still had the chance to watch the entire show from inside CityWalk. How neat?!

It wouldn’t be a proper media event if there wasn’t food (and a few margaritas) in the mix. During the event samplers of food were handed out such as Steak Fajitas, Lava Shrimp, Chocolate Sundays and Key Lime Pie for desert.

After Jimmy’s concert the party continued for another hour and the atmosphere remained similar to how it was during the concert. Konga lines formed and the team members were wonderfully helpful. While I don’t and Konga lines will form during regular store hours, the atmosphere through the evening was wonderful. If this location can maintain that level of energy and courtesy, CityWalk really has something special on their hands.

The location of Margatiaville fills the bottom floor for the former Jillian’s Bowling Alley, in what was arguably the quietest part of City Walk. This leaves room for a new tenant above the restaurant not available before. This new venue brings additional live entertainment (though on a smaller scale that 5 Towers), a unique dining experience not found anywhere else in California, and a tropical, island getaway theme, a first for CityWalk in Hollywood.

While exiting the event, team members formed a line outside and cheered those in attendance giving them high-fives and chanting.

Margaritaville is absolutely worth checking out on your next trip to Universal Studios Hollywood and the grand opening was the most fun we’ve had in a long time! Within the past year, we’ve seen the additions of Dongpo Kitchen, LuDo Bird, Margaritaville, a totally revamped Universal Cinema, and VooDoo doughnuts which is expected to host its very own grand opening in a few weeks. This is just the start of a new vision for CityWalk Hollywood and we LOVE the direction they’re taking.
