First trailer for dark retelling of Jungle Book Story-Mowgli

Andy Serkis is a visionary motion capture performer, as well as a great director. Now he brings his vision of The Jungle Book to life in an all new version of The Jungle Book, with the first trailer for Mowgli.

The trailer definitely takes a darker tone than the Jon Favreau/Disney live action take. This version tells more of the tale of what happens when Mowgli goes into the Man village, and looks closer to the 1942 Zoltan Korda directed version, starring Sabu. That version saw Mowgli venture into the village, after being chased from the jungle by Shere Khan, and being treated like an animal.

This version will star Oscar winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter,” the “Dark Knight” Trilogy) as Bagheera; Oscar winner Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine,” “The Aviator”) as Kaa; Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Imitation Game,” “Avengers: Infinity War”) as Shere Khan; Oscar nominee Naomie Harris as Nisha, and Andy Serkis (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) as Baloo. Rohan Chand (“The Hundred-Foot Journey,” “Bad Words”) will play Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves.

The film will theaters on October 19th.

A sequel to Jon Favreau’s Jungle Book is slated to hit theaters very soon as well.
