Ed and Gavin will be on to talk about the long in production, highly anticipated first film "The Dead Matter". They will also bring along a special guest from the film.
We will of course talk about the film, the music in the film and as always we welcome your questions and invite you to call in. Plus I (Erik) will give a no holds barred review of the film. How many times can you say you've heard that right to the face of the creators of the film? Probably a lot.
I went to visit her and John Riley, General Manager for BGW sent her a get well card, plus just the other week she got to meet him.
Just thought I would add this little bit of news.

From School Library Journal:

Quote:J. K. Rowling Photo: J.P. Masclet

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in New York, alleges that Rowling's bestselling Harry Potter series is "substantially similar" to Jacobs's The Adventures of Willy the Wizard: Livid Land (Bachman and Turner, 1987).

It also claims that Rowling, whose Potter books have sold more than 400 million copies worldwide, shared the same literary agent as Jacobs.

Scholastic spokeswoman Kyle Good says the claim that Rowling's agent, Christopher Little, was also an agent to "Adrian Jacobs is simply untrue" and says the publisher extends its complete support to a statement made by Rowling earlier this year.

"The fact is I had never heard of the author or the book before the first accusation by those connected to the author's estate in 2004, and I had certainly never read the book," Rowling said in February 2010. "The claims that are made are not only unfounded but absurd."

Last year, the estate of Jacobs, who died in 1997, sued Rowling and her British publisher, Bloomsbury, for plagiarism, claiming that the author borrowed heavily from a scene in Willy the Wizard for Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire (Scholastic, 2003), the fourth title in the seven-book series.

The central theme of each work includes a yearlong wizard contest and unfolds as similar characters enact parallel plot points, the complaint said. And while in a bathroom, both Willy and Harry must decipher a major task in a contest with help from magical creatures. Bloomsbury has denied the claim.

"A similar legal claim in England and Wales to that which has been filed in New York recently, also brought by the estate of Adrian Jacobs, is currently the subject of a summary judgment application by J. K. Rowling and her U.K. publishers Bloomsbury, on the basis that the claim is without merit and should therefore be dismissed without delay," says Good.

The suit calls for Scholastic to recall the Goblet books and pay the estate all profit from it.

This is not the first time Rowling has been pursued by writers claiming she plagiarized work. One of the better-known cases involves a suit brought by Nancy Stouffer about her two stories, The Legend of Rah and the Muggles (2001) and Larry Potter and His Best Friend Lilly ( 2001, both Thurman House), where a character named Larry Potter appears with a physical resemblance to Harry Potter. Stouffer lost her case in 2002 and an appeal three years later

The similarities are too much to ignore. It's best left to the court to decide, but what does this mean for WWOHP? My guess is that it's going to be left alone, but it will change the relationship of Universal and JK. Someone else told me that there was another series of books that had a lot of the same ideas of Potter, before Potter had them. Maybe this is why she hasn't written any other books of late?

GARGOYLE

Betrayed by the Demons of the NETHERWORLD Goulich the Vampire Lord and his Brides fled their haven into the endless blackness of the Blood Night. Yes the Sun was gone now and humanity had been hurled into the chaos Goulich had created, but the Netherspawn had taken too much. Now they and their heavily armored foot soldiers the KRAMPUS, swarmed the earth, slaughtering not only mankind but also the Vampires that had helped them enter this world.

Even now foul eggs laid by their hideous queen Shub-Nagalath, were hatching by the thousands, releasing winged nightmarish horrors, the GARGOYLES, hybrids of Earth and the NETHERWORLD designed to hunt humanity and the Vampires to extinction.

Amazingly the humans had proven tougher to topple that Goulich had expected. True their armies had fallen to the madness and power of the dark hordes, but a group of human warlocks armed with science and sorcery were holding out, lead by a mysterious force known only as the EYE.

The followers of the EYE believed the secret to the GARGOYLES undoing could be found only in the ramshackle haunted mansion of the undead Prophet Randolph Whatley, now under siege by a savage army of NETHERWORLD monsters.

As the armies of GARGOYLES swarmed the skies above, Goulich came to the conclusion he had been avoiding. He must ally himself with the hated humans and the EYE to end the Blood Night before the GARGOYLES ruined the earth for man and Vampire alike!

DEAD SALVAGE
The Mangler Part 2

The captured MANGLER, forced to work for NecroTech on their Zombie Rampage Program had escaped! Now armed with both their advanced technology and his own twisted genius he had retreated to a hidden lair to begin psychotic experimentations once more. Gathering the most amoral and depraved freaks and medical assistants to him, they began work creating a force that would defend him from capture, mixtures of Zombie flesh and metal, undead weapons called DEATH MACHINES.

Enraged at the defeat he had suffered at the machinations of the MANGLER, Bulldog Magillicutty vowed to capture the deformed surgeon for the NECROTECH Corporation and repair his ruined reputation. After searching hundreds of possible hiding places he at last discovered Fred’s SALVAGE, an indoor junkyard that looked like a possible hiding place for his foe. Leading his last few loyal men into the ramshackle building he vowed to get The MANGLER or die trying.

Quote:(NECN/CNN: Barcelona, Spain) - A 15-year-old girl died and two other people were hospitalized with severe injuries after an amusement park ride in Barcelona, Spain, broke in midair, a city spokeswoman said.

A young boy who was on the ride suffered minor injuries, but walked away from the twisted metal on his own, Barcelona spokeswoman Rosa Diaz said.
The names of the victims have not been announced.

The mechanical arm of "El Pendulo" (The Pendulum) broke and the basket carrying the teens fell on top of the ride known as "The Golden Mine," said Sara Jaurriete, director of the Tibidabo amusement park.

The park's website describes El Pendulo as "the ultimate free fall and the first of its kind in Spain."

The ride has a "long articulated arm where passengers are taken up to 38 meters (124 ft). From here, you are dropped in a free fall reaching 100kph (60 mph) in 2.8 seconds. Once you reach the bottom, the arm takes you through a 50-metre arc," the park's website says.

The Pendulum has been in operation for the past four years, and it is billed as one of the park's main attractions.

About 4,000 visitors were in the park when the accident happened Saturday evening, Jaurriete said.
Universal has a little bit of land yet, and what they are planning on doing is building a new hotel and Waterpark. While the land they have left doesn't seem to support both, it's looking like they are trying to do something about it.
As screamscape reported, the lease on the land that Wet n Wild is on expires this year, and that property has not gone up on rent in a long time. It could very well be cost prohibitive to keep it there. They may close Wet N Wild or they may simply move it. But if they move it, what kind of waterpark would they build? I personally would like to see a move away from all the normal "slides" and get something that involves you a little bit more, such as a waterpark dark ride where you are floating in a lazy river and you go through scenes that end in a splash down.
What would you like to see?
The bottom line is that we were told about all this back in 2007 and told about everything from Harry Potter to hotels and the waterpark, and now...it's all coming true.

Iconic Locations in California Cities Will be Transformed Using Digital Projections and Favorite Disney and Disney - Pixar Stories

Viewers Invited to Watch and Participate Online

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Viewers around the world will join a one-of-a-kind, online phenomenon in July to experience the extraordinary magic of "World of Color," the new after-dark spectacular presented nightly in Disney California Adventure park in Anaheim. The interactive tour will feature live shows in four California cities, and the online audience will travel "virtually" to each location to watch the shows and interact with the webcast.

In each city, specially produced animation will be projected onto a familiar city landmark, using a sensational mixture of special effects, high-tech projections and one of the storytelling themes presented in "World of Color."

The public is invited to participate online only at the "World of Color" Road Show website (http://www.WorldofColorRoadShow.com), where viewers will enjoy a rich experience that includes Disney animation and music, video entertainment and a "viewer's choice" opportunity to vote for the starring color in that evening's show. Each city will have a broadcast location designed for media only.

This "online spectacular" is inspired by the dazzling "World of Color" show, which combines music, animation, water and a multitude of special effects in a magical celebration of Disney characters and storytelling. A new venture for the Disneyland Resort, the tour will utilize streaming online video to bring its own special magic to the World Wide Web and to iconic locations in San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego and Los Angeles. Each locale will deliver a different, amazing show.

ONLINE EXPERIENCE: Viewers will be able to access the webcast performances live and on encore nights at the website, in English at http://www.WorldofColorRoadShow.com and in Spanish at http://www.coloresdisney.com. The site also features an artistic video mashup, interviews with the creators of "World of Color" and the voting option. Video clips from each iconic location will be added to the show on ensuing nights, inspiring viewers to follow the virtual tour throughout California.

CAST YOUR VOTE: Just as fairies cast their spells, online viewers will cast their votes each night for one of three colors representing each of the Three Good Fairies from "Sleeping Beauty" – Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. The color with the most votes will be featured in the show's opening moment, complete with a trail of pixie dust. In true Disney style, the winning fairy will fly from computer screens to the landmark location and she will conjure the magical transformation of the landmark using the chosen color – red, green or blue. With this bit of magic, online audience members are able to lend their own spark of inspiration to the show.

SHOW THEMES: A different theme will come alive in each of the four cities, with each show reflecting a theme from the "World of Color" production at Disney California Adventure. To experience the show in each city, people will have to visit the website. There will be no accommodations on site in each city.

SAN FRANCISCO: In San Francisco, the unique animation will be projected onto the façade of a landmark that will be revealed online on Opening Night. The presentation is dedicated to the theme of "Love," featuring romantic couples from Disney and Disney - Pixar animated films. The live show, presented Wednesday and Thursday, July 7 and 8, will repeat continuously from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Pacific time and will be shot from several different angles for the ongoing, live webcast. Encore webcasts (not live) of the San Francisco show will appear online from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 9 through 11.

SACRAMENTO: With forest and garden scenes from such films as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Pocahontas," "Bambi" and "Alice in Wonderland," the online experience in Sacramento will be built around the theme of "Nature." Presented Thursday through Sunday, July 15-18, in historic Old Sacramento, it will be webcast live from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. each evening.

SAN DIEGO: The next stop will be San Diego where, appropriately enough, "Water" will be the theme of the interactive experience, featuring scenes from "The Little Mermaid," "Finding Nemo" and others projected onto the U.S.S. Midway Museum at Navy Pier. The San Diego webcasts will be live from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, July 22-25.

LOS ANGELES: The final shows of the online tour will be projected onto the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles Thursday and Friday, July 29 and 30. The theme will be "Sky," illustrated by scenes from such films as "Aladdin" and "Fantasia." As before, the live online presentation will be repeated continuously from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Encore performances (not live) will be webcast from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 31 and August 1.
