Christmastown at Busch Gardens Williamsburg features new twists on Christmas favorites

Christmastown at Busch Gardens Williamsburg is in it’s third year of celebrating the holidays in full glory with lights, shows and sounds of the season. This year the park is bringing new sights, new sounds and even more lights to Christmastown than ever before.

Christmastown has added “Polar Pathway” to the mix, which is simply a pathway. Only they’ve converted Escape from Pompeii and covered it completely with thousands of lights. They’ve also made it appear to be constantly moving, as a waterfall would.

The park has also included a new show in the Ireland area called “Gloria!” Which is a telling of the “Greatest Story Ever Told”.

We were sent in a brief review from one of our readers, along with a few pics

Polar Pathway – Not really an attraction. It is the pathway around Pompeii decorated with polar bears, polar bear benches, icebergs, and trees. The main feature of this attraction is Pompeii, which is completely covered in bright white lights, the splash pools are covered in blue lights that have a water wave effect. The blue light also go up the lift hill into the ride. There is no walking into any special attraction. Also, the Pompeii Gift Shop is now a photo booth for you to take pictures with Shivers, the polar bear, or play a game where you pick a present and win the prize inside the box for $5.

Gloria! – A mix of old songs but new twists that make the show amazing. This show is the most technical show ever produced by the park and is mainly a technical wonder. The stage has been replaced with moving platforms. That mixed with wonderful imagery and lighting make an excellent show.”

While not all of the rides are open, Alpengeist and Mach Tower, two of the parks most popular attractions are open. There is also a slew of other attractions open as well, but the real attraction are the shows and the lights.

Perched in Germany is a big gift wrapped logo for Verbolten, which will be “unwrapped” next Spring.

Other features of Christmastown allow guests to get up close and personal with penguins, shop in a festive marketplace, and even get a visit in with Santa! There are five different shows, and many different chances for fun scattered throughout the park.
