Orlando Eye continues construction as first shops show signs of opening

The Orlando Eye is already starting to dominate the skyline as the massive Ferris Wheel sits about halfway completed. The main structure of the wheel itself sits at about 50% complete, but the area of shops and restaurants and shops look to be a little bit behind. While there are many shops, attractions and restaurants that don’t appear to be even started yet, some of them are looking like they are getting ready for openings with “Now Hiring” signs hanging from the buildings.

The all new Orlando Eye area is still a ways off from being completed, but work is continuing at an amazing pace. The all new entertainment district will feature not only the 400+ foot observation wheel, but also an all new Sea Life Aquarium, and Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. There is also speculation that the area will also feature an all new Shrek Experience that is coming this year to Merlin owned areas across the world. That rumor hasn’t been confirmed, but it would make for a very family friendly addition to the attraction district.

While construction continues throughout most of the area, “Now Hiring” signs are going up on the Yard House restaurant. The area is now accepting applications and filling positions. Is it possible that this will be the first of the new restaurants to open? Will it open before the rest of the area is even complete? There is no indication of an opening date on the Yard House official website, although there are several positions open on their job listing page for the International Drive Location (click here).

There is still no opening date for Orlando Eye, though many have pointed to the end of the year, right before the busy Holiday season for a grand opening, though at the rate of progress, some portions could be open by Summer, including the Eye itself.
