Starbucks opens at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk

Universal Orlando is continuing to push the envelope when it comes to it’s CityWalk refurbishment. The promise of eight new venues, and two revamps of existing venues is fast becoming kept as the resort pushes towards summer. With the approach of Spring Break, two new open restaurants helps greatly with the influx of crowds, and guests looking for a quick break in the day. Starbucks is the second in a one-two punch that began last week with the opening of an all new ColdStone Creamery.

Starbucks at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk quietly opened Friday afternoon, and by Saturday morning, it was business as usual as the Spring Break crowds flocked to the coffee shop for their daily caffeine fix. The shop opens just a week after the opening of ColdStone Creamery just next door.

The Starbucks on the lower level of CityWalk is much larger, and provide more seating both inside and outside on the covered patio than the previous location, literally right above it, on the second level of CityWalk. That Starbucks is now closed as CityWalk makes way for The Cowfish-Gourmet Burger and Sushi.

Admittedly, I’ve only been into one Starbucks. In fact, I’m not a coffee drinker…I drink tea. When it comes to Starbucks, I’m not really a connoisseur of what makes a great shop. However, judging by the crowds that were flocking, there’s something that was done right with this one.

The completed CityWalk refurbishment is expected to be completed by the busy Summer season, when Universal Orlando will open the next phase in their Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The new area will link both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida with The Hogwarts Express, an all new train ride system that will be unlike anything guests have experienced.

Universal Orlando has so much going on in 2014, that it is the theme park to see. In addition to the CityWalk expansion, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley, the resort is also adding an all new 1800 room resort at the end of this month.
