Run, bike and swim. The essence of most childhoods is coming back to Adventure Island in the second annual Tampa Bay Kids Triathalon. Kids will make their way through the Busch Gardens waterpark as they run through the sandy beaches, swim through the lazy river, and bike through the terrain of the park. The event is held in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.
Kids ages 6-10 (junior varsity division) and 11-14 (varsity division) are eligible to participate. The first 450 registrants will receive a complimentary race-day ‘Stay and Play’ ticket to Adventure Island. Participants will also collect a race day “Swag Bag,” which includes an Under Armour T-shirt. All competitors will be receive a finisher’s medal upon completion of the race, with the top three in each category earning a trophy and an additional Adventure Island ticket to recognize their achievement.
Additionally, participants onsite will have the chance to enter and win a youth Specialized brand road bike, courtesy of Cycle Sports Concepts. Cycle Sports will also serve as the official bike technicians for the USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, with timing manufactured by Alta Vista.
“We’re pleased to partner with Adventure Island again to build on last year’s success of trying to create one of the nation’s premier youth triathlons, the Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon,” said Rob Higgins, executive director of the TBSC. “From the swim taking place in the park’s Rambling Bayou to the entertainment Adventure Island and Busch Gardens are providing, we’re confident this will be a memorable event for all involved.”
