Two new Hotels planned for Walt Disney World Resort

Earlier today, the South Florida Water Management District, which oversees the water resources from Orlando, Florida to the Florida Keys  received an application for two new hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort Complex. These hotel’s will be built at Flamingo Crossings in the vicinity of the western gate, which has been a rumor for the past several years. We’ve looked at the plans that were published by the South Florida Water Management District today, and the plans call for a Springhill Suites and Towneplace suits. Marriot owns both Towneplace Suites and Springhill Suites. Both hotels will have a single connected pool and gym that will be in the center of the complex, and will also feature a Bar and Grill in the pool area between both hotel lobbies.

The plans indicate that the property will also have two individual lobbies with approximately 5 handicap parking spaces per hotel. The plans do not indicate how many floors or rooms the hotels will have will be equipped with. In the letter that the governing body, Reedy Creek Improvement District has filed with their permit, these hotels are a part of the Flamingo Phase 1 project, and currently it is unknown what else will be a part of Flamingo Phase 1.

Springhill Suites is aimed towards upper moderate pricing, where all properties feature a free hot breakfast buffet, a 24-hour market and free high-speed internet access.

Towneplace Suites is a moderate priced hotel that is aimed towards extended stays. Towneplace Suites also has a free hot breakfast buffet, a 24 hour “In a Pinch” market, free high-speed internet access, and is also pet friendly. Unlike Springhill Suites, all rooms at TownePlace Suites come with a come with a Fully equipped, full size kitchen, whereas the Springhill Suites have the default In-suite kitchenette with both a microwave and minifridge. It’s a big break from the ever increasing prices of onsite hotels, all while being close enough to the parks. Not being on site means that there will be no extra perks to staying at this hotel, where as onsite hotels give a huge variety of benefits, such as Extra Magic Hours and free continuous shuttle service.

Plans indicate that they will be located at Flamingo Crossings Blvd. and Western Way. The Property will be just outside of the Walt Disney World Property line. Construction on both hotels is to commence later this year.
