Zumanjaro Drop of Doom at Six Flags Great Adventure makes first test runs

It’s been a rough year for record breaking drop towers. First, the world’s tallest free standing drop tower undergoes major delays at Busch Gardens Tampa, as Falcon’s Fury gets pushed back. Second, what is shaping up to be the tallest drop tower in the world period, gets delayed due to very bad weather. Fortunately there’s a silver lining, as at least one of the two major drop towers is getting closer to opening. Zumanjaro Drop of Doom has successfully completed it’s first test drops, and is one step closer to opening.

While it’s been a little longer coming than most would have liked, Zumanjaro Drop of Doom has taken the title of the world’s tallest and fastest drop tower. The all new tower stands at 415 feet, and will drop riders at about 90mph. The new tower is getting closer to opening, but first it has to undergo a little more testing.

Fortunately for you, we get to see what this monster looks like in action, as Six Flags has released a killer new look at this record breaking terror machine.

The tower is attached to the world’s tallest roller coaster, Kingda Ka, and will have cars thundering overhead as you race up and drop down.

Zumanjaro is set to drop in later this summer. Stay tuned for more from Six Flags Great Adventure, and be sure to get social with us on Facebook, and follow along with us on Twitter @BehindThrills for the latest updates!
