It feeds on screams-Cedar Point announces huge year for 2015

Cedar Point is full of huge announcements lately. Just a few days ago the park announced it would be partnering with LeBron James to form an amazing charity for area kids. Earlier this year the park announced it would be closing Mantis, the park’s stand up roller coaster. Now we know what will be replacing it and we also know the rest of the park’s huge 2015 plans.

The biggest announcement for Cedar Point is that Mantis isn’t going anywhere, not really. The coaster will be undergoing a huge change as it gets repainted, and gets all new floorless coaster trains. It will also get an all new identity. In spring of 2015, Mantis will become Rougarou. In French folklore Rougarou is a werewolf like creature that feeds on screams. Naturally it will be well fed at Cedar Point.

Rougarou’s floorless trains will take riders on an epic journey at speeds reaching 60 mph as their feet dangle just inches above the track and the murky waters below. The trains will be manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, the same team behind rides like Raptor and GateKeeper, and will transform the ride experience dramatically while utilizing the structure and track of Mantis.

In addition to Rougarou, the park will be completing it’s renovation of their Hotel Breakers. The newly renovated hotel will feature an all new experience just steps away from Cedar Point.
