The Walking Dead has become a worldwide phenomenon over the past five years. It has catapulted the careers of some of the stars, and has redefined the way we watch television. The cultural impact has been spread through comics, the TV show, video games and more. It has been a staple of Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Orlando and Hollywood over the past three years, drawing in huge crowds. Now you can meet several stars of the Walking Dead at this year’s Spooky Empire, where they’ll be signing autographs.
One of the biggest surprises of the show has been Michael Rooker, who played Merle Dixon in the show. A southern fried racist, that ended up with a heart of gold, Merle was the one guy you loved to hate. Rooker has played a variety of roles, including Yondoo in this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Two of the shows longest running characters will also be on hand. Melissa McBride, who plays Carol and Chandler Riggs who plays Carl in the show will be signing autographs on Saturday. The two have made huge impacts on the shows.
Laurie Holden was Andrea for three seasons, and for a time was a fan favorite. She’s also played huge roles in The Mist as well as Silent Hill.
From bit parts, to recurring roles, all ending tragically, kids have played a major part in setting the pace for the show. Four of the shows’ younger stars will be on hand. Kyle Kennedy had a huge part in season four as Mika. She played an integral part in a turning point for Carol and Tyrese in the episode “Look at the Flowers”. Madison Lintz also had a huge role as Sophia in the first two seasons.
Vincent Ward and Lew Temple were a part of season 3, and were on hand when the Governor’s reign of terror began, though, they didn’t survive to see it end.
These are just a few of the many celebrities that will be on hand for this year’s Spooky Empire. Tickets and VIP passes are now on sale.
The Walking Dead Season Five begins Sunday October 12th on AMC.
