Disneyland Resort Confirms New 7+ Story Parking Structure and Transportation Hub to Open Before Star Wars Land

Disneyland has finally confirmed a long standing rumor that a brand new parking structure and transportation hub will be built just to the east of Disneyland occupying the space of an industrial building complex and will be accessible via Disney Way, across from the Garden Walk. Also in the plans in a new pedestrian bridge taking guests over Harbor BLVD who are parking at the new structure. This new themed walkway will take the place of the Carousel Inn which Disney recently purchased earlier this year.

The project is already underway as ground has been broken and crews are digging up and laying the foundation for the new structure as we speak. Currently the project is slated to open sometime mid-2018 “prior to Star Wars Land” as huge crowds are expected to visit the park during that time. This further re-affirms the possible late 2018, early 2019 opening date for the Star Wars Experience.

Also released during the announcement was the proposal layout which offered a bit of interesting insight into the possible future of Disney California Adventure.

On the layout the home of the current Transportation Hub just north of Hollywood Land (rumored future location of Marvel theme expansion) appears to be blank. If the old transportation hub does become a future expansion area for DCA, this would mean an additional 4 acres would available to the park for growth.

Only time will tell but it’s very exciting to know that parking is being addressed at Disneyland as it’s an ongoing problem. Another parking structure is expected to go up near Downtown Disney when the new luxury resort hotel being construction in 2018.
