Disney Springs rolling out preferred parking

Beginning June 1st, guests heading to Disney Springs can get preferred parking for just $10 dollars. The announcement came via the official Disney Springs Twitter.

The new preferred parking will be available in the Lemon and Grapefruit parking lots, and more than likely be on levels that you don’t have to take an escalator or elevator.

This isn’t the first charge for parking at the traditionally free area. Last year, Valet Parking was offered for about $20 dollars per vehicle. Also last year, Disney started testing preferred parking at all of their theme parks.

The real question here, however, is why? Why will people pay for the preferred spots? The areas are at either end of the property, and not towards the central part of Disney Springs. There are quite a few big restaurants in the Marketplace and West Side, which is where the parking is pretty much located, but the majority of the big new restaurants and shopping are at the Town Center. For those, you’re better off parking in the Orange or Lime garages. There just doesn’t seem to be a big advantage to parking there, that we can see.

Still, will you pay to park at Disney Springs?
