Stitch escapes closure at Walt Disney World

Experiment 626 is hard to kill. He was designed that way, after all. Stitch’s Great Escape has been rumored to be on the chopping block for over the past year. The last few months have furthered that rumor, ad Stitch’s Great Escape was changed to “Stitch’s Alien Encounter Photo Opportunity”. The attraction changed to a meet and greet area in the past few weeks, which all but confirmed the attractions demise.

It looks like Stitch has received yet another stay of execution as the attraction is currently scheduled to open during the busy Christmas holiday. Magic Kingdom will have the attraction open beginning on December 23rd and will keep it running until January 6th 2018.

After that? It’s anyone’s guess, as the long rumored Wreck It Ralph attraction has seemingly been scrapped. While it’s certain that Stitch is living on borrowed time in Tomorrowland, what is uncertain is what will become of the space. Perhaps the park plans on keeping it open until the Tron light cycle coaster opens in a few years. That attraction was announced for Magic Kingdom back at the 2017 D23 Expo in July.

For now enjoy Stitch while you can, and get your fill of chili dogs.
