D23 Japan: Pixar Pier opens June 23rd, plus new Paint the Night Float at Disney’s California Adventure

Disney made some major announcements earlier today at D23 in Japan, including some pretty exciting stuff coming to Disney California Adventure.

Pixar Pier is slated to open at Disney California Adventure later this year just in time for Summer on June 23. This reimagined area, previously Paradise Pier, will feature a brand new marquee that guests will enter through, topped by none other than the famous Pixar lamp. Pixar Pier will feature four themed neighborhoods that will represent various beloved Pixar films. Each area will feature newly themed attractions, food, and merchandise.

Pixar Pier will feature a high-speed roller coaster: the Incredicoaster. Themed to The Incredibles, this coaster will feature character figures, lighting, and special effects that will put guests racing alongside the Parr family.

The area is opening just in time for guests to experience the all-new Incredibles 2 movie, which will open in theaters on June 15th.

In addition to Pixar Pier, a brand new float will make its debut this coming June, also featuring The Incredibles. This float will feature Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone. It will also showcase Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack’s powers to life in a surprising way. Disney will bring this new dazzling float to life through the use of high-tech pop-art effects inspired by the mid-century modern film style.

Paint The Night Parade will make its debut at Disney California Adventure when Pixar Fest begins throughout the Disneyland resort on April 13th.
