Mulan is the latest in the onslaught of Disney live action remakes of their animated classics. With Aladdin recently crossing the $900 million mark, worldwide, it’s not likely to stop anytime soon either. Later this month will see the Lion King remake, which is predicted to make even more than Aladdin. Later this year will be the sequel to Maleficent.
Several rumors of the new Mulan points to big changes, from the removal of the key songs from the original, as well as the changing of Mushu from the wise cracking dragon, to a strong willed Phoenix. There was also rumor of the changing of the main villain from the Huns to a witch. From the footage, that doesn’t look to be the case, but we’l have to wait for a full trailer to perhaps get more. We might see more when the D23 Expo rolls around this August.
