The D23 Panel for Disney Studios unveiled a whole slew of big announcements, but one of the most anticipated films in the new Phase of Marvel films is The Eternals. While production hasn’t started yet, we do have what looks like the entire cast on stage.
The cast on stage included Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, and Don Lee. But the cast is not complete as Feige introduced two new members of the cast: Barry Keoghan, playing “Druig”, Gemma Chan who will be playing “Sersi” and Kit Harrington who’s playing “Dane Whitman,” a non-Eternal character who Marvel fans may recognize from the comics as Black Knight.
Kit Harrington will be reunited with his Game of Thrones Brother Richard Madden…though they will be on opposite ends this time, maybe.
In the comics, Black Knight is actually three different characters. Dane Whitman is actually a part of the Avengers, though he’s the nephew of Nathan Garrett who is a supervillain. Once Garrett is defeated, Whitman picks up the mantle of Black Knight and his uncles glowing sword and goes on the fight for good. We have no idea what role Whitman will play in the movie, but it certainly feels like Kit Harrington is a great fit for it.
