A taste of the Wizarding World brought home: My easy Pumpkin Juice Recipe

When the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened this Summer (technically Spring) it brought to life a flurry of amazing sights, a one of a kind attraction and tastes that are out of this world. In fact Universal sells a lot of things to take home from the Wizarding World such as wands, tasty treats and many other mementos. The only thing it doesn’t sell to take home? Butterbeer. While many people have tried to make their own Butterbeer, few recipes come close. It’s the cream, it has a taste that just sets the whole drink off and no matter what people try to do it comes really close, but no cigar. One that is a little easier to duplicate, however, is Pumpkin Juice. Sure you can buy it bottled to try at home, but if you can’t get to the Wizarding World and would like to try this tasty treat we do have a great recipe for you.

Pumpkin Juice has been described as a Cider of sorts, with a hint of Pumpkin Pie. Other recipes get really into the pumpkin apect of it all and will have you juicing pumpkins and adding spices and what not. This recipe is simple, and easy enough that you can make it in less than two minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons Canned Pupmkin pie mix (standard canned pumpkin doesn’t have the spices mixed in)
  • 1 Tablespoon Apricot Preserves (we use Polaners)
  • 1 Cup Apple Cider
  • 1 Cup Apple Juice
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar

Combine all ingredients in a food processor (or blender) and puree for about 2 minutes, or until most of the pulp is gone. What you get is a very, very close version of the drink that is extremely easy to make and very tasty. With the weather cooling down and fall in the air, it makes a great Halloween type drink as well. If you are looking for a more adult taste, leave out the brown sugar and instead mix in dark rum (Captain works great). Of course if you want to take out all the work just pick up a bottle from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
