St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital is one of the most important hospitals in all the world. Children from all 50 states, and the rest of the world are there with life threatening illnesses. They are there anywhere from just a few days, to a few months. Some may not be able to go home. While that is a very depressing concept, it’s a fact of life for thousands of children every day. It’s even more so around this time of year.
With that in mind we have teamed up with our friends behind the “Silly Socks For St. Jude” campaign.
The campaign is simple. You donate socks…the sillier, the better. The socks are then mailed directly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and distributed to all the patients there. It’s a way to brighten up the day of many of the kids there for the holidays.
This is the 6th year of the campaign, and this year there are some new ways to help.
Traditionally, the campaign has stuck mainly to socks. This year, however, the sky is the limit. You can now send new, unwrapped toys, Video games (Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, and PSVita). Game accessories & controllers are always needed. Portable DVD players, DVD’s (G, PG, PG-13) No VHS tapes, please! Bluetooth compatible speakers, CD’s of all genres, headphones & earbuds. $10 to $50 Gift cards (Best Buy, Target, Game Stop, Amazon, ITunes, & Starbucks). Most of the children (if not all) are undergoing treatment for life-threatening illnesses. It’s very important to stick to those guidelines above. Here is a list of items not accepted:
Stuffed Animals, Food, Toy guns, Candy, Sand, Clay, Dolls made of cloth, balloons, porcelain dolls, VHS tapes, soap or bubble mixtures, or used items.
People can send Silly Socks as well, and sock hats. The socks, however, do need to have non-skid bottoms.
If you would rather donate cash to St. Jude that would be great as well. You can donate to them in the name of the Silly Sock fund by clicking here! However, while donations of money are always welcome, these items will go ship directly to the children IN THE HOSPITAL.
The items will ship out on December 18th, in order to make it out in time for Christmas.
The Silly Sock Fund has a Central Florida location, at GhostStop, in Saint Cloud, FL.
You can mail any toys or donations to the fun by mailing them to:
