Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is right around the corner. The event kicks off this Friday, and will terrorize guests for a record number of nights with Walkers, Aliens and demented dolls. With an all new event, of course, comes all new merchandise. Today the park started slowly rolling out some of this year’s merchandise, and just like the event it’s a very eclectic mix of horror.
This year “Fear Will Eat You Alive” as the shirt showcases a bit of the ongoing Zombie theme of the past few years. While previous years have showcased more of a Walking Dead vibe, this year sees a bit more of a horror and gore vibe.
If you like the last few years of HHN shirts, this year will be your favorite yet. The back of the shirt shows some very bloody instruments, and tray..With candles. Very Terminus feel here.
Speaking of Terminus, merchandise from The Walking Dead is huge this year. There is everything from official event merchandise, to wallets and pins and yes…for all of you who love Darryl, there’s something for you too. Walking Dead has been a huge draw for fans of the series, and continues to dominate most of the merchandise this year. It’s honestly a smart move, seeing that The Walking Dead Season 5 is the most talked about upcoming series of the fall season.
Universal’s Uniminis are back and this time it’s a zombie girl, complete with teddy bear. Last year featured Jack the Clown, and some say this year will feature another Universal classic as well, later in the event. The UniMinis are Universal’s answer to Vinymation, and feature a much cooler cast of characters.
Two of the biggest names this year will be that of AvP and Michael Myers. They have their own shirts, so that you can take home the terror that they bring. Michael Myers has been the most requested property of Halloween Horror Nights History. The house this year brings Michael Myers to life, and puts you right in the first film.
Classic characters are also huge this year, with Chucky making a huge appearance. American Werewolf in London is also on a shirt. Neither Chucky or American Werewolf are featured this year. So why have the merchandise? One, it’s good horror. People love the merchandise of good characters, and these two are some of the most popular. Two, Universal owns the properties, so why not offer them to fans?
First rule about Fright Club? Braaaaaaaains. New this year is Fright Club, which has the potential to turn into something great and unique. Fright Club shirts, cups and glasses are all available. Is this a hint of things to come? Not likely, but how would you like to go toe to toe with some of your favorite HHN Monsters just for fun?
More merchandise will be rolled out between now and Friday, and there will be tons of fun stuff that hasn’t hit shelves yet.
