Arrow Dynamics was a pioneering roller coaster design and manufacturing company founded in 1946 by Ed Morgan and Karl Bacon in Mountain View, California, USA. The company is known for developing innovative technologies and designs that revolutionized the roller coaster industry. Some of Arrow Dynamics’ most famous coaster designs include the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland, Space Mountain at Disney World, and the iconic Steel Phantom at Kennywood Park.
Arrow Dynamics’ innovations included tubular steel track, which allowed for more complex coaster designs and smoother rides, and the “looping coaster,” which featured a complete vertical loop. The company was also the first to use computer-aided design (CAD) technology in coaster design.
In 2001, Arrow Dynamics filed for bankruptcy and was subsequently acquired by S&S Worldwide, Inc., a company that specializes in manufacturing amusement park rides and attractions. While Arrow Dynamics no longer exists as an independent company, its legacy lives on in the many coasters and ride systems it designed and built, which continue to thrill riders all over the world.
