Sunday Universal Orlando’s newest venue readied for guests, just a mere months after construction began on the area. Coldstone Creamery officially opened to the public on Monday after a weekend long test run. The new ice cream shop is one of eight new venues, and ten total construction projects currently going on in the area.
The ice cream shop replaces one half of the Endangered Species Store that was a staple at CityWalk for many years. The new dining venue comes right before the busy Spring Break Season gets into full swing.
If you’re unfamiliar with the ColdStone Creamery chain, they take a variety of ice cream flavors and mix them on a cold marble slab with various add ins. The shop features a variety of different add ins, and even has seasonal flavors like Pumpkin Pie, Gingerbread and watermelon.
The shop itself is located next to what will be an all new Starbucks, which is scheduled to open in just a few days. ColdStone offers ice cream, shakes and drinks. The shop itself is fairly small, but the outside area is full of seats, and makes for the perfect topping to a warm spring day in Central Florida.
The ice cream shop is the third new venue to open at CityWalk of a planned eight. Late last year, Red Oven Pizza opened for quick serve whole pizza pies. Earlier this year, Antojitos Authentic Mexican opened to guests for a unique and eclectic dining experience (click here for a review!). Starbucks should open within the week, and the rest of the area should be completed by mid summer, just in time for the huge crowds that the all new Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley will surely draw.
