Top three theme parks of 2014, as voted by you!

2014. Wow. There’s really no other way to describe it. The year hit the ground running with major events at theme parks nationwide, and ended with huge news. In between we saw people build a snowman, celebrated 50 years of bringing people closer to animals, and took an even more amazing trip into a world of wizards and dragons. Coasters broke records, and waterslides defied what you knew was possible. To say that 2014 was a big year for theme parks is vast understatement. Before we finally put 2014 down as legendary, we will pay one last tribute to the year’s best as voted by you! We are proud to announce the winners of the 5th Annual Thrill Weekly Awards-The Best of 2014!

No theme park is exactly like another. Every park offers something different than another, but they all offer something that is enjoyed by many: entertainment and thrills. Park of the Year is our largest category within Thrill Weekly Polls. It takes a total of five weeks to complete this poll. Because there are so many theme parks within the United States, we break the United States down into four different regions. The winner and runner up from each region moves onto the final round, leaving a total of only eight spots to compete for Park of the Year.

And the top three for Park of the Year 2014 are:

3.Quassy Park-Connecticut

2.Sesame Place-Pennsylvania

AND THE WINNER IS!

Silver Dollar City-Missouri!

This year the little parks dominated the competition. Parks like Sesame Place and Quassy Park faced stiff competition in their regions from the likes of Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and the Six Flags parks. Quassy Park has a loyal fan base of local families, and coaster enthusiasts, with their award winning “Wooden Warrior” family coaster, proving that you don’t have to be the biggest to make a big impact. Sesame Place had a small advantage of being in the SeaWorld family, but stands alone with their particular brand of family friendly fun. The park recently opened their all new Cookie Monster Land in 2014.

Silver Dollar City, however, pulled ahead and stayed there.
