In honor of Veterans who fought to make our country the free country it is today, Universal celebrated Veterans Day by honoring all Veterans by means of a parade featuring the Universal network of Veterans. The parade began in Amity at 11 a.m. and traveled through the park until it ended at Gramercy Park. As the parade reached the Mummy area, a flag was raised and the National Anthem was played by a local high school band. There were police officers on motorcycles decorated with red, white, and blue bow-ties, the Statue of Liberty, Uncle Sam, Roller skaters dressed in patriotic colors, Universal Characters (Woody Wood Pecker, Scooby Doo, Betty Boop, Beetle Bailey) all waiving American flags. Don’t forget the current members of the U.S. Military.
Some people held posters saying they were proud to be part of the military, others waved flags, and some clapped and cheered. What a way to honor those who made our country what it is today. Thank you for your service to the United States of America!
