Ripsaw Falls catches fire at Islands of Adventure; Ride Closed for repairs

                             

It comes as shocking, and horrifying, news that Dudley Do Right Rip Saw Falls caught fire around 5:30pm yesterday afternoon. Ripsaw Falls was evaculated along with the rest of Toon Lagoon as black smoke filled the sky. The sky was visable from a distance, allowing many Twitter users to send photos across the social networking site.

The fire broke out around 5:30 inside the Ripsaw Falls building. According to Channel 13 News, the roof caught fire. At this time, it is unknown as to why the fire occured. Fire officials think it may have sparked because of an electrical issue in the air conditioning system or in the actual ride’s system.

Universal Orlando released this official statement:

There was a fire at Ripsaw Falls in Islands of Adventure tonight. Because of our team members’ quick response, our guests were kept safe. We will keep you posted on when the ride will reopen.

At this point in time, there is no definate re-opening date. The ride has been closed since the fire broke out. No injuries were reported.

Under circumstances, Universal Orlando will most likely repair the ride, as well as take care of any seasonal maintenaince while the ride is already closed.
