Universal Orlando is on a major upswing as the resort expands in just about every single aspect of it’s operation. The resort has just opened an all new 1,800 room onsite hotel, has started expanding it’s CityWalk District with the first of eight all new venues, and will be opening the all new Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley this summer. With all the expanding, the resort needs employees to keep everything moving. Beginning this week Universal Orlando will begin hiring for the 3,500 positions it needs to fill, and also beginning this week, the positions will begin with a higher starting rate.
On June 1st, base pay for all employees will raise from $8 dollars an hour to $9 dollars an hour. This comes on the heels of Disney announcing that they will raise their starting pay to over $10 dollars an hour over the course of a few years. Universal is kicking that move into high gear. Whether they will eventually match, or beat, Disney’ starting pay remains to be seen, but it’s a great start for the entire labor force in Central Florida.
Also, beginning this week Universal will start seeking the 3,5000 employees that it needs for a variety of positions. Universal Orlando will hold a virtual job fair on Saturday, May 10. Qualified candidates applying online between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. for hourly parks positions, including those still available in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley or at CityWalk, will receive a call from a human resources professional that day to conduct a phone interview or schedule an in-person interview. Instead of waiting for weeks, you will know within a matter of hours.
Then on Tuesday May 13th, Universal will hold an onsite open house job fair from 8a.m. to 3p.m.
