Five days of ‘fandemonium’ await the city of Orlando as LeakyCon will be hosting their annual eventfrom Wednesday, July 30th through Sunday, August 3rd at the Orange County Convention Center. LeakyCon is one of the leading sci fi, fantasy, TV, and book conventions with a strong focus on Harry Potter and ‘and all things nerdy’. Some of the guests of LeakyCon include Harry Potter stars such as Hugh Mitchell (Hogwarts paparazzi and Harry Potter fanboy Colin Creevy), Charlotte Skeoch (Hannah Abbott) and Nick Shirm (Zacharias Smith) , Scarlett Bryne (Draco Malfoy crony Pansy Parkington) and designers Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima who worked on the art for the films.
LeakyCon was born after staff members from The Leaky Cauldron wanted to combine experiences from other conventions with the special feeling found within their community to bring a Harry Potter conference for to life like no other before. LeakyCon held their first convention in Boston in 2009. Now entering their fifth year, LeakyCon has traveled the world, previously holding conventions in London, Portland, Chicago, and of course – Orlando.
Other fandoms are not forgotten however, Supernatural actress Alania Huffman and writers Robbie Thompson and Adam Glass will be attending during the weekend. Doctor Who actress Nina Toussaint- White (Melody Pond) will also be appearing at this fantastic convention. What makes LeakyCon unique is their focus on the importance of creativity. Stars and YouTube creators from ‘Lizzie Bennett Diaries’, Team Starkid, and ‘A Very Potter Musical’ are slated to be in attendance. Additionally, LeakyCon promises to keep guests of the convention busy with signings from their favorite shows and meet their favorite writers like John Green ( The Fault in Our Stars) and Laurie Halse Anderson (Speak), Q&As, workshops, concerts, Disney sing alongs, and unique vendors. There is literally a ton of things to do at LeakyCon that will keep any fan going all day!
This year for an additional fee, LeakyCon guests will be able to attend a private, after hours event at Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The event is sold out and more tickets are unlikely to go on sale, but those who purchased the package will be able to experience both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley after the parks close for a special event. Leaky guests will be able to experience some of the most delicious savory flavors Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley have to offer plus the opportunity to experience both areas at night. Leaky guests will be able to enter Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley as early as 8pm, two hours prior to the scheduled park closing of 10pm, however, Leaky guests will be able to stay until 2am!
