It’s the eighth story in the Harry Potter series, and it’s been a huge hit in London’s West End. Now comes word that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will come to the United States in 2018! Pottermore has brought word that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will make its Broadway debut on Sunday, April 22nd in the Lyric Theater. The theater is currently being redesigned.
The play has won a record breaking Nine Olivier Awards, including Best New Play, and Best Director.
The play tells the story of a grown up Harry Potter, and his family. Harry is overworked at the Ministry of Magic, and grapples with a past that refuses to stay there. While Harry deals with the adult problems of Harry Potter, his youngest son Albus struggles with the family legacy that he was born into, and never wanted.
There are murmurs that the play is looking to be turned into a movie as well, with the original cast being sought to reprise their roles.
Tickets will go on sale this fall. More details will also be revealed later this year, as will performance schedule, ticket prices, and casting details. Ticket will go on sale via the official site (click here) later this fall.
Honestly, we would not be surprised if fans attending Universal Orlando’s A Celebration of Harry Potter gets a first glimpse at the cast, or theater. The 2017 event had a first look at the wands, and more from the opening of the London production.
