She’s been the stuff of nightmares for decades…okay, maybe not nightmares, but definitely some kind of dreams (the ones where you wake up sticky?) for millions of horror fans. But one chapter of the life of Elvira-Mistress of the Dark, is coming to a close.
On Saturday, Cassandra Peterson the amazing mastermind behind Elvira appeared at the Midsummer Scream Panel for a huge reveal.
Watch: The Elvira Announces Her Final Show at Knott’s Scary Farm
Cassandra Peterson developed Elvira for KHJ-TV, in which she was the host of Movie Macabre. It was the kind of thing that every budding horror fan loved, old horror movies (mostly bad) and a sexy host with a plunging neckline. Elvira was unveiled in 1981, and in 1982 she made her debut at Knott’s Scary Farm. She would host a show that would border between funny, scary and sexy until 2001.
In 2013, Elvira returned for the 40th anniversary of Haunt at Knott’s Scary Farm. Since then, she has rolled out a brand new show every year. Now, this is her final year at Knott’s once again.
Her shows have brought about a great mix of horror, comedy and sexiness. Of course, it’s hard not to do when you have Elvira running the show.
