With the massive success of Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, and the plan to eventually move Halloween Time to DCA in the coming years, it should come as no surprise that the Guardians would be getting into the swing of Halloween for 2017.
The new experience, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark’ will take place moments after Mission Breakout in an all new canonical narrative. The announcement was made via The Disney Parks Blog:
Your adventure picks up moments after the events of the popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction. The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress, but they have accidentally left Groot behind! Rocket enlists you to distract the creatures that have been released so he can find and rescue his little buddy. While The Collector’s ever-resourceful assistant, Apheta, may try to assure you that it is all just a momentary setback, we advise you to proceed with caution!
The best part is that this overlay will only come into effect after the sun sets, this means you will be able to experience BOTH Guardian’s of the Galaxy experiences in a single day during Halloween Time. Also coming to Halloween in 2017 is the first ever Cars Land Haul-o-Ween overlay as well as a new themed main entrance for California Adventure.
A similar day/night concept was once proposed for Space Mountain during its 2005 overhaul but plans for never came to life. This also marks the 4th attraction to receive a seasonal overlay at the Disneyland Resort. The other experiences include Haunted Mansion Holiday, It’s a Small World Holiday, Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Jingle Cruise.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark debuts with the rest of Halloween Time on September 15 and runs through October 31. This sounds like an amazing year for Halloween fans visiting the Disneyland Resort this fall. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on the latest!
