Hurricane Irma has come and gone in the Central Florida region while leaving behind from coast to coast a swath of destruction.
Hurricane Irma made landfall in Marco Island, Florida and took an unexpected track northward and had her center impact go right over the heart of the Orlando tourism corridor. Irma’s winds in Daytona which maxed out at 59mph with gusts of 78mph (very weak category 1 hurricane) proved not to be reckoned with.
Krakens Quest which opened in the mid-2000’s is a ProRacer series speed slide where 4 racers race down the lanes of the 55-foot tower to the bottom of the slide. Over the night when Irma, was at her full force proved to be too much for Krakens Conquest. As you can see in the photo above, about half the slice ripped off from the attraction and toppled over into the street below it.
It’s too early to tell what will happen to the attraction, but it’s future will be announced once the Irma recovery efforts have calmed down at bit.
