The Great LEGO Race is now open at Legoland Florida Resort!

Legoland Florida just opened their newest attraction: The Great LEGO Race. It combines virtual reality (VR) technology with the thrills of a roller coaster to immerse guests into the center of an action-packed road rally. It is the first virtual reality roller coaster experience designed just for kids and is also the first time that the LEGO brand and minifigure characters have been integrated  with state-of-the-art technology into a theme park attraction.

While the virtual reality part of the experience adds a unique flavor to the attraction, wearing the VR headsets while riding the attraction is optional. Guests who choose not to wear the VR headset will still be able to experience the thrills of a roller coaster.

Riding with the VR headset will immerse guests deeper into the experience as they become the star in a race against popular minifigure competitors all while riding a roller coaster. Minifigures include pirates, wizards, trendsetters, pharos, and surfers.

“The Great LEGO Race was inspired by the way kids play with LEGO toys at home,” said Candy Holland, senior creative director for Merlin Magic Making. “It’s a unique LEGO adventure that lets kids enter an epic, imaginary world made entirely from LEGO bricks, featuring a host of different themes and fun LEGO characters all mixed up together.”
