I absolutely loved Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark as a kid. They were seriously screwed up, and my Grandpa would take and twist all the tales to match where he lived. So, with Guillermo Del Toro Producing and helping to bring the book to life, color me excited…and petrified. The first teasers have hit and they seem to be bringing the scary but not too terrifying stories for kids to life in a perfect way.

And of course, my favorite

The films are definitely going for the look of the stories, and will likely be terrifying kids for generations to come. The movie hits theaters on August 9th, 2019.
Two more teasers have popped up!
An official synopsis has popped up as well, along with the website for the movie:
It’s l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying tome.
I love this. The movie has taken the form of one family telling these stories as they happen to their family. It’s a great way to spin it, and make a creepy as hell movie. While the August release date doesn’t inspire much confidence, the movie will likely be a favorite for us horror freaks.
