Today at D23, Disney revealed the name of the fifth ship of the Disney Cruise Line, which will set sail in January of 2022. Not only that, but Disney Cruise Line will have a brand new, exclusive Bahamas Destination when it does!
The Disney Wish will feature a huge three story atrium which is inspired by the beauty of a fairytale. The Disney Wish will feature Rapunzel on the back of the ship. The Disney Wish will also be powered by liquefied natural gas and, at approximately 144,000 gross tons and 1,250 guest staterooms, be slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
Like we said before, there will be a brand new destination for Disney Cruise Lines, and a new private island in the Bahamas called Lighthouse Point.
Lighthouse Point will focus on Nature, and the beauty of the Bahamas. It will be located on the island of Eleuthera, and will will celebrate both the stories of The Bahamas and the natural environment of Lighthouse Point itself.
Junkanoo is a huge thing in the Bahamas, it’s part of the culture. While the event happens in the winter, artists work year round to bring their culture to life. Imagineer Joe Rhode and other Disney artists will be working with those local artists to create Disney magic, and art that will create something that’s not a replica or fantasy, but a dreamlike seaside adventure that combines imagination and nature.
