Busch Gardens Williamsburg wrapped up their huge 2015 regular season Saturday with a massive event for passholders. Of course, when you have all those passholders in one place, you couldn’t find a better time to announce the huge new things coming to the park for the next season. Busch Gardens Williamsburg celebrated the 40th anniversary of the park with a new coaster, new show and tons of great small additions. In 2016, the park will continue growing with new additions all throughout the park.
The fun begins this Halloween, when Howl O Scream unveils three new houses. The pinnacle of which will be the all new Unearthed:Scarlett’s Revenge. The new house is being made at all three Howl O Scream events, but it promises to be one of the most immersive houses ever created at the event. There will also be CORNered and Lumberhack. Next the Christmas season comes back with a bigger ice show during Christmas Town.
Next year we’ll see a three huge new additions to the park, which will kick off with the opening of the all new restaurant. As of right now, the restaurant doesn’t have a name, but it will feature themeing that hearkens back to the age of explorers, and Marco Polo. The new restaurant will feature classic Italian, Mediterranean and Asian entrée, salad and dessert stations. It also will include a new stone hearth oven for artisan flat breads in a marketplace setting.
“We’re bringing the flavors of the world to the world’s most beautiful theme park,” said Busch Gardens Culinary Vice President Franz Kitenko. “And, we are excited to introduce a new open design that will enhance the dining experience for our guests with less wait and more options.”
For the beer lovers, not only is there Bier Fest this year, but all year round there will be an exclusive new Craft Beer Room located in Das Festhaus. Guests will be able to taste the will 30 local and regional craft beers along with a variety of snacks. The new room will also feature a program that will allow guests to purchase customized beer steins, which the guests will be able to keep at the park, in the beer room. The stein will be there for guests when they return, and will be kept in their own spot, away from the hands of other guests.
Finally, there will be an all new show in the Royal Palace Theatre, that will take place nightly. The new show will be a new take on the Three Musketeers, which is the perfect fit for the France section of the park. The new show has been described as a mix of Kinetix, with acrobatics and choreography and a traditional play. It will not be your typical retelling of the Three Musketeers.
“An evening performance opens up a world of possibilities for an open-air venue like the Royal Palace Theatre,” said the park’s Entertainment Director Peter Dunklee. “Playing with light and shadow in the night air lets us immerse the audience into the storyline like never before. It’s definitely something worth staying late for.”
Also, the Food & Wine Festival will return in the Spring of 2016, and fans will be able to choose the next booth, beginning at the end of September. The new choices will be Hawaiian, Flavors of Virginia, and Vegan.
2016 promises to be huge with these announcements, and more to come as the season gets closer.
