Sometimes the rumors pan out, others they don’t. This time, the rumors of Universal snapping up 475 acres along Universal Blvd in Orlando do just happens to be true. The Orlando Business Journal reports that Comcast, patent company of Universal Orlando has just purchased the property for $130 million. Now what?
Universal Orlando has been on a building spree the last few years, and it looks like that spree will continue as the company confirmed that it just purchased the 475 acres along Universal Blvd for about $130 million.
So, now that they purchased the land, ehat now?
If the rumors are true, Universal Orlando will use the land to build new theme parks (yes, plural) and hotels. The rumors are wide, ranging from a video game themed park, to a music themed park, to even more themed waterparks. The company had stated that they wanted to have 10,000 hotel rooms on property, something that they are inching closer to this year with the addition of Sapphire Falls Resort in July. The new land, along with the existing Wet n Wild property (which will shut down in December) could provide the new hotels and more.
It’s going to be an exiting time for Universal Orlando within the next few years as the park continues it’s growing trend.
