Sad news today as actor Bill Paxton has passed away at the age of 61. He died Saturday after complications from surgery, and nothing more is known at this time.
He played in several different roles throughout his long career, but our favorite had to be Twister. Why? Because of the Universal experience. It was such an integral part of the park when we started going, and taking the kids.
One of my favorite memories of the park, included Twister and Bill Paxton. My daughter was deathly afraid of thunderstorms. We would avoid Twister for that reason. Finally, being tired of being handed off my daughter decided she wanted to go in. I knew there would be tears.
Still, on she went. It was my son who was doing his Bill Paxton impression that had her giggling about it. It was his first time as well. When the time came, she had her fingers in her ears, but didn’t shed one single tear. It was my son who broke into tears as the floor dropped and scared the hell out of him.
Last year we said goodbye to Twister at Universal Orlando, as it closed to make room for Jimmy Fallon’s Race Through New York.
Here’s a look at that final show, in honor of Bill Paxton:
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Paxton’s family.
