WaveBreaker: The Rescue Coaster is gearing up to launch over the waters of SeaWorld San Antonio on June 16th! The new coaster will be the park’s fifth, and definitely one of the most ambitious. The new coaster will take you on a launched journey over the water, and will see guests go on a mission from Sea Rescue to make an animal rescue.
Today, we get to take a good look at the construction, and a few surprises, thanks to Nicholas Pelisek over at ZooNation.
Sand bag and envelope testing on the coaster has concluded, and with the coaster scheduled to open in just a few short weeks, guests have reported seeing water dummies loading on the coaster. With the attraction slated to open very soon, we’ll more thank like see it roaring around the track in the next few days.
The queue does seem to take place outside, though there’s a large portion of the station under cover. There have also been screens reported in line, which reminds us of Mako at SeaWorld Orlando. That coaster uses screens to play Guy Harvey’s Conservation message about sharks. We can only think that the same will happen on WaveBreaker.
Speaking of the track, the coaster is unlike the others in the park. Instead of soaring high above your head, and roaring past the crowd, it skips you across the water. Guests ride very low to the water line, and get the feeling of being on a jet ski. There are no water spray effects, because the coaster is extremely close to the water.
Many were wondering what would become of the ski show at the park. We are happy to report that it appears to be returning, with a new version. The ski show could have boats come very close to the coaster, and will be one more amazing element about the attraction. The show was closed temporarily to make room for WaveBreaker construction.
