According to a statement released by Disney, on My News 13, the plan is to have Donald Trump speak when the Hall of Presidents reopens later this year.
“The same thing that we’ve done with other presidents, is the same plan we have for President Trump,” said Jacquee Wahler, vice president of communications.
Keyword here is “plan”. Disney “plans” for the 45th President to speak, but will he? It seems like Disney is ready to go, but something is keeping it from happening, maybe Trump himself? From all indications, including the quote above, it sounds like the speech hasn’t even been recorded. Why?
Who knows. It could be a number of different reasons, from time, to Trump not liking the Hall of Presidents Speech written for him. But the tradition has been that with every new president, the attraction is closed and reopened within six months. Disney staffers have even flown to the White House to record the speech, in a 20 minute session for the past two Presidents, Bush and Obama.
At this point, it looks highly unlikely that Hall of Presidents will be reopened on the 4th of July, which in itself is a shame. What better way to celebrate the birth of this great nation than to pay tribute with a look at the Presidents and events that helped to make it great.
The attraction will likely reopen later this fall, with the official website giving itself until the end of the year.
Update
Disney Parks and Resorts have officially confirmed via Twitter, that not only will Trump have a speaking part, but the parks are working very close with the White House.
That puts that news to rest…but still, what’s the hold up?
