If you’re familiar with the Harry Potter films you know that the Christmas season plays a big part in the story. The village of Hogsmeade itself is set within a wintery wonderland. So naturally, just over a year after the land’s grand opening, it’s finally time that Christmas comes to Hogsmeade, and boy did it ever.
It’s worth noting that both coasts generally got the same ‘Christmas in the Wizarding World’ experiences, however, the impact of this new event on Hollywood is much larger. The holidays are always an extremely busy time for the park and its unique Grinchmas offering. With the addition of the Christmas in the Wizarding World, we could see a much, much busier park during the month of December based on the impact that ‘Nighttime Lights’ had on the park over the summer.
In addition to the snow-capped peaks and frozen streams, Hogsmeade’s roofline was adorned with hundreds of unique Harry Potter themed garland and lighting packages.
The interiors of many of the gift spots as well as the queue for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey have also received holiday decor.
Within the Three Broomsticks you’ll find holiday fare as well. The return of Hot Butterbeer being an extremely popular offering.
The main event, however is the new ‘Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts’ night time show in which, similar to Nighttime Lights, features digital projection mapping, interactive twinkling lights and now, an actual firework finale!
You’ll also find holiday entertainment from the Frog Choir during the day who perform a number of Harry Potter themed Christmas songs.
Christmas in the Wizarding World debuts on November 24th (tonight) at Universal Studios Hollywood. We highly recommend checking it out, especially if you’re a big Potter-head. The sooner the better, as we all know the closer to New Years you get, the busiesr the parks get.
