Michael Myers is back in new official photos from Halloween!

Ahead of the new trailer dropping this Friday, USA Today has a first look at the new Halloween movie, with exclusive shots. The new film picks up 40 years later from the original, and yes…the Boogeyman is real, and he’s back. The article also expands a bit on the plot of the film.

“A British documentary crew comes to the States to visit Michael in prison for a retrospective of the maniac’s night of terror — but their project becomes way more interesting when Myers escapes custody, retrieves his signature mask and seeks revenge on Laurie, with others naturally being part of his impressive career body count along the way.

In the decades following the fateful Halloween night that forever altered the former babysitter’s life, Laurie has armed and prepped herself for Michael’s inevitable return — to the detriment of her family, including daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak).”

Jamie Lee Curtis returns as a hardened and bad ass Laurie Strode, with John Carpenter providing the music and producing on a Danny McBride Script, directed by David Gordon Green. The new film hits theaters this October, and we just wish Friday would hurry up with that trailer!

Universal and Blumhouse have teamed up for this one, which makes us really hope for a Halloween Horror Nights house at this year’s event.

Update

The first tease for the new trailer has hit, and it’s very effective:
