If you were ever under the impression that I’m just a theme-park-coaster-credit-nerdy-nerd-nerd. You were completely and totally wrong. I just happened to be surfing Facebook this morning, and saw a post from a family member about going to the Zoo. Okay, so I haven’t been to the Zoo in ages. Literally! I can’t even remember the last time I went, so today sounded like a perfect opportunity to get out of the house.
It was bright, sunny, and just a hot crappy day. Of course, right past the ticket booths is an area where a globe spins and is surrounded by miniature geysers. The Zoo is huge, to be honest with you. In the two hours I spent at the Zoo with a bunch of kids, my aunt, and my grandfather, I managed to see Elephants, Giraffes, Lions, Turtles, and a Zebra. I could really go on for ages. However, there were no Tigers. Sadface.
The exhibits that were not under construction were beautiful! The animals seem well cared for, and the exhibts seemed fairly clean. However, most of the animals weren’t in their exhibits. I’m assuming this is mostly because of heat, but I could be wrong. I would have loved to see Elephants from the walkways, rather than seeing them caged up and flapping their ears tiredly. Overall, my day was awesome and I’d love to go back to the Zoo before I depart the hilly Virginia for a miserably, hot Florida.
Get out of the house and go see some Elephants.
