Poor Colossus. Just last month the legendary coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain was closed. The coaster was set to become Twisted Colossus, which would see the coaster become a steel – wood hybrid. Today firefighters were called to the park with reports that the coaster was on fire.

Part of the coasters’ lift hill appeared to be destroyed, as well as the crest.
“There are no injuries and the fire is contained,” Six Flags stated. “Colossus is currently undergoing a transformation and has been closed since August 17.”
While the accident has no bearing on the reopening of the legendary monster next year, it is a sad end to coaster that was an American icon.
Thankfully the park was not open, and there were no injuries.
