The huge 400 foot tall Orlando Eye isn’t open yet, but it’s already getting the first thrill seeking rider…or should we say walker. Nike Wallenda will tackle the 400 foot wheel by walking the length of the wheel…on the outside. It’s all part of the high grand opening for the massive Orlando Eye that will be opening on May 4th.
On Wednesday, April 29th, Wallenda will walk the 400 foot wheel, as it spins. The Orlando Eye is the tallest observation wheel on the East Coast, and will have a grand opening on a May 4th.
The Eye will be the anchor the huge new I-Drive 360 complex that will also feature several restaurants, as well as two more Merlin Attractions. Sea Life Aquarium and Madam Tussauds Orlando will all be opening the same day.
The stunt isn’t the first time Wallenda has worked with a major attraction. In 2009, Wallenda did a tight walk rope from the front gate of Kings Island, all the way to parks Eiffel Tower.
Update
The Today Show will air the wheel walk live on April 29th, for those of you who are not able to make it out in person. Willenda will ride the wheel up to the top, then climb put of the capsule, and walk along the wheel without a harness and without a net. No word on how long he will walk, but it would take about 20 minutes for the wheel to make one full revolution.
