Magic Kingdom “After Hours” tickets now half off for passholders

Walt Disney World rolled out an all new “After Hours” experience last month that gives you the chance to spend three hours in the Magic Kingdom with zero to little wait. The ticket is extremely expensive (checking in at $150 a person) and seems to offer extremely small wait times and free ice cream. However, if you’re a passholder, the price has been slashed in half. Is it still worth the price?

Annual passholders at Walt Disney World can now get discounted tickets for the After Hours event. The tickets will now be $75 dollars for passholders, which you can purchase at the ticket window or by calling the passholder line at (407) 560-PASS or (407) 560-7277.

We aren’t sure why the tickets were discounted, but the only night that was sold out was opening night…and even then reports say it was dead empty. Is the park going to try and raise the capacity of the event, or are they just not selling the tickets as they had hoped?

Let’s look at the event as well. The big question is, “Is it worth it?”.

We haven’t been yet, but are planning to go very soon. We have not been Disney passholders, so therefore have not gone to the parks very much. For us, yes…it’s completely worth it. We are looking forward to very small lines, free ice cream, and the chance to take lots of pictures and videos uninterrupted. If you frequent Magic Kingdom, or are a passholder it doesn’t seem like it would be worth it for you. Sure, zero waits are amazing, but if you time it right you can get that anyway during non-peak times.
A special preview of the upcoming new show might make the event more enticing to those who have access to the park in a regular basis. Also, add something more substantial to the food offerings, like maybe free hot dogs. Or even make resevations open to the restaurants that are always hard to get into, like Be Our Guest,  Cinderellas Royal Table and the new Jungle Cruise eatery. For some, the chance to dine at one of the more elusive restaurants might be a deciding factor.

Still, the chance to ride just about everything with very little wait is enticing enough for some. We can’t wait to check out Magic Kingdom after it empties out!
